We're now end to enders.......

 

Week 13

When we announced the Shona and Mike Take a Hike challenge to our Church family at Miller Hall, there were three reasons we outlined. 

The first was that we saw it as a work, and whilst we knew that works could not earn us favour with God, we believed that by our works we could show our faith.

Secondly, we said that we were very much aware of the warning that reminds us that we could, or should, not boast about what we will do, for none of us know what tomorrow will bring.

Thirdly, and most importantly, anything we were able to achieve we must, in accordance with the words we read in 1 Corinthians chapter 10 verse 31 that say: "Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God".     

Today, Wednesday 24th July 2024 we reached John O'Groats, and for being able to walk 1131.5 miles we simply give God all the praise and glory, for the fulfilment of His promise, given to us on 28/4/24, the day we left Falkirk to travel to Lands End that said: "I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way (Exodus chapter 23 verse 20)".

We truly give God praise and attribute to Him the Glory that we are able to stand at the John O'Groats signpost, 

As we arrived there was an added bonus, just as at Land's End, we were seen off by Andrew, Shona's brother, his wife Jane and Mirran, their youngest daughter, and our youngest niece. When we arrived at the John O'Groats signpost, a voice from behind us said, "excuse me, would you like me to take your photo?" Turning round we saw Jack, our youngest nephew, Corinna, Shona's sister and her husband Jim.

A tear-jerker for sure, it was hugs all round, especially as Shona had been wondering all week who we could get to take our photo when we finished the Shona and Mike take a Hike challenge.


We began our walking challenge believing that God would be with us, we ended our walk knowing that He was with us, and we say: "To God be the glory"

    Congratulations! What an amazing achievement! How lovely family were there to meet you, we can imagine it must have been so emotional. You should be so proud of yourselves.You must be on cloud nine!! Enjoy!

Thank you for taking the time to read our blog, please be patient with us as this is the first time in our life we have ever tried to write a blog. Not to mention the technical issues of actually setting up our blog page. As you will see we are not young computer whiz kids.   Sunday 26th May It was great to have two days away from walking over the weekend, it gave us some time to relax and reflect on how much encouragement we had received from so many family, friends and strangers.  We have met so many people along our route, who have donated to the Shona and Mike Take a Hike challenge, money received in cash from those we have met, or donated through our giving page, all of which are greatly appreciated. Of course, we must not forget to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated through our Cancer Research giving page. We really do appreciate your generous giving, kindness and messages of support, through all the usual social media outlets. We do read them when we have suitable connectivity.  Sadly, our phone signals have sometimes been nothing short of useless, we did think about lighting a bar-b-que and sending smoke signals..........Then the rain scuppered that idea, lol.
