Onward and upward then down and up...and up.. and up......

On Sunday we had a lovely day, we attended Carnhell Christian Fellowship, where we received a very warm welcome. The speaker preached from Exodus Chapter 4 verses 2 - 5. He focussed on what Moses had in his hand, a simple stick.

After Church a lovely couple who we knew, Philip and Pamela, treated us to Sunday Lunch. It was yummy and the Christian fellowship even better.

What a difference in the weather for our walking this week. The waterproofs have been surplus to requirements, thankfully.

Having said that on Wednesday, part of our route was through, what can only be described as a mud bath, at one point we had to plough through ankle deep mud. I of course was singing :"Mud glorious mud, nothing quite like it for cooling the blood, so follow me follow, down through the hollow, and there we will wallow, in glorious mud. Shona was NOT impressed....hahahaha

Another thing Shona said was, "every time there is a down, there seems to be an up". Welcome to Cornwall! It's not just one up after a down, but many steep ups. Steeper than the one in the photo.

At one point as we puffed and panted our way up, yet another steep hill, I was reminded that life is so often full of ups and downs, how often we descend into a valley, where it is dark and dismal then to get out, we are faced with a tremendous uphill struggle.

As Christian believers though, we know we are not alone we need only turn to Psalm 23: probably one of the best known of the Psalms. It is a Psalm that paints a picture of a powerless sheep being tended by an unfailingly careful Shepherd. the shepherd uses His crook to guide us and protect us. He will guide us through the valley and onto and up the hill.

On Friday, we had climbed a few hills at the top of one I stopped to take a photo or two as Shona walked on. Once the photos were taken, I set of and as I walked started to sing a few choruses and hymns. One hymn was an old favourite. "Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power, are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?"

When I got to the chorus, it was as if all the birds in the trees had joined me to give praise to the Mighty God. The sense of the presence of God was quite overwhelming.

That's all for week 2, we really look forward to a day of rest tomorrow, Sunday.

    1. Thanks for your encouragement, sorry we’ve not replied sooner, the wifi has been a bit ropey. Last week was indeed a good week. Looks like a bit of rain tomorrow, so waterproofs will be out.
