Stocking up with goodies...... and final training days....

From this week at the bottom of our blog we include a copy the QR code for our Cancer Research UK fundraising page, please feel free to share the details.

They say an army marches on its stomach, well
we think walkers are pretty much the same. So here is a wee photo of some of the goodies we will be packing into the van. All very healthy, (not) we're sure. Nevertheless, they are very tasty.

The only thing missing at the moment are the "Jelly Babies", as most of our friends know they are a particular favourite of you know who. Only problem is they are viewed as very moreish, once the bag is opened, it produces a very similar reaction to that of another product, "once you pop, you cannot stop".

Another we have ready to pack is a very big box of something we received from one the ladies at Miller Hall. It's one of her specialities, home-made macaroon bars.

Now you're probably saying to yourselves, if we keep eating all this stuff, we will be rolling ourselves up to John O'Groats, hmmm? Think of all the shoe leather we would save though!

As well as making sure our, waistlines, oops sorry, our food stocks are growing, we are also reviewing all the details of the route we plan to take. We are aware it is one thing to see it on a map, but it can be quite different on the ground. We would, very much, value your prayers as we set out.

On Friday, this week, we hope to take the van up to Perth for its first MOT, habitation service and general health check. We are hopeful that all will go well with this.

What of us, we have eased back on the long walks, only doing a couple: Monday we did a 14 mile walk up and round Canada Wood to Falkirk and back the same way. Then on Saturday a walk of 13 miles to Stirling.

Physically, we both feel the training we have done has put us in the best possible condition we can be. However, as important as this is, we are very much aware that our spiritual well-being is far more important, something we are reminded of in a letter, written by the Apostle Paul to a young Pastor called Timothy, when he says to him in 1 Timothy 4 verse 8:

“Physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.

We are by no means physically perfect and, it is certain, we are by no means spiritually perfect, nevertheless we read in the Bible, we are to "live and walk as Jesus did". A tall order we know, but by His grace we trust we will strive to live a life that is a reflection of Him, that is, the Lord Jesus.

  1. Brilliant! I wish you both success and stretched tums by the time you devour the goodies and that despite the exercise.
